Oscar-winning actor/producer/director and member of United Way's Board of Trustees George Clooney has generously donated the gift bag he received at the March 5, 2006 Oscar Awards ceremony to United Way. An online auction of Mr. Clooney's gift bag will begin at 12:01 am ET Wednesday, March 22, 2006 and end March 28, 2006 at 11:59 pm, at www.unitedway.org.
As a member of the Board of Trustees of United Way, Mr. Clooney has been a generous supporter of United Way's efforts to rebuild lives and communities devastated by the 2005 hurricanes. Knowing that the rebuilding in the Gulf Coast will take years and require significant financial resources, Mr. Clooney offered to have his 78th Annual Academy Awards(R) Gift Bag auctioned off with the proceeds going to benefit the United Way Hurricane Response and Recovery Fund.
